Build a Pollinator Garden for Hubbard Mastery School

About

The students of Hubbard Mastery, located in the Short North, need your help in building a pollinator garden and outdoor classroom! Our goal is to create a space in our schoolyard to support environmental exploration and real-life observation. By creating a pollinator-friendly garden we will help preserve struggling local butterfly, bee, bird, and bat populations.

Please dress appropriately, dress in layers and prepare for inclement weather, wear toe-covering boots/shoes, and/or items you don’t mind getting dirty. Work gloves will be provided, but please bring a reusable water bottle. Tools, such as rakes, shovels, weeders will be provided but limited, if you feel comfortable please bring your own garden tools to use the day of. 

As a thanks for your hard work, everyone can take home one free tree sapling to plant in your own yard, as well as a variety of other goodies from Green Columbus! Snacks and water will also be provided.

Pollinator Garden Assistance:
We need people to remove turf grass, weed/remove invasive plants, plant seedlings, plant seeds, lay walking stones, pour gravel, etc.

Outdoor Classroom Assistance: 
We need help with staining the outdoor classroom picnic tables.

General Beautification:
We need help with removing litter on site, raking up debris and leaves, removing weeds, mulching, painting recess pavement games, etc.

Everyone helping at the event will be eligible to take home a free tree sapling to be planted in your own back yard. Free snacks and water will also be provided!
Parking Details
Parking in available in lot located behind school on Wilber Ave., as well as street parking on Wilber and Dennison Ave (no permit required).
