Come join us for a morning of volunteering and community as we kick off the 2017 growing season!
About the Wheatland Urban Farm:
The Wheatland Urban Farm is part of Urban Farms of Central Ohio, a non-profit urban farming business that takes vacant and/or underutilized land and transforms it into thriving, community farms. We seek to provide underserved communities with increased access to local produce, jobs and job training, and education about fresh produce and improved diet.
Wheatland Urban Farm has a production space of 5 acres. We welcome experienced gardeners who want to contribute their growing skills to help others, as well as first time gardeners who want to learn how to grow food while giving back.
Age 13 and over (Younger participants welcome if accompanied by an adult)
Potential jobs include:
- Preparing and amending the beds
- Planting crops
- Site clean-up including trash pick-up

Inclement Weather Cancellations:
Should the weather not be ideal, we will cancel. If we are going to cancel, we will make that call at least an hour before the scheduled time and will contact you via phone and e-mail as soon as we can. Sometimes the weather in west Columbus is not the same as other areas of Columbus, so please plan to come until you hear from us that we’ve cancelled. Please, if the weather is looking bad, check your e-mail or voicemail to see if you’ve received a notice.
You can always call Emily to confirm at 614-440-5454.
