The Glen Echo Neighbors Civic Association (GENCA) is an organization for residents of the Glen Echo neighborhood of Columbus, Ohio.
Glen Echo is the northernmost neighborhood of the University Area Commission, bounded by Hudson Street to the South (between the RR tracks and Indianola Avenue) and Arcadia Avenue to the South (between Indianola Avenue and High Street), Glen Echo Ravine to the North, High Street to the West, and the CSX Rail Line to the East.
The goals of the civic association are to promote the common good and general welfare in the neighborhood; to provide a platform to protect the residential character and quality of life of the residents of the area; to advocate for development that enhances pedestrian friendliness, sustainability, environmental sensitivity and diversity within the neighborhood; to cooperate with other in-town neighborhoods on issues of mutual concern; to protect the lives and property of neighborhood residents; to share information and resolve conflict through a formal structure; to beautify and protect our streets and greenspaces, including the Glen Echo Ravine; to encourage community-spirited activities throughout the neighborhood; and to unite residents from the entire Glen Echo area to accomplish these mutual goals.
Our neighbors are active caretakers of the neighborhood and its green spaces, especially Glen Echo Park and Ravine.
