We had a great experience volunteering at Clean the Ravine at Colonial Hills Elementary School. They were well organized with plenty of tools. This is a larger event with plenty of work options available, so it caters to almost everyone. We worked on mulching paths, filling in trail wet spots and removing invasives. They also had the option to help with planting trees. I'm sure we will consider coming back again next year.
Approximately 20 members of the Columbus GPD community volunteered at Highbanks Metro Park as part of Earth Day 2018. Work included mulching, raking flower beds, and planting tree saplings near the nature center.
The event had a variety of work options, plenty of helpful staff working alongside, and they worked closely with us prior to the event to make sure we had some kid friendly volunteering work. Only mishap was they were a little unorganized the morning of. They had us meet at the wrong location, but once we were redirected, we were able to get directly into the volunteering work. Everything worked out well.
Overall, this was a good experience and we would be glad to help out again next year.
